What an MOT is
An MOT is a safety and environmental inspection required for most vehicles over 3 years old. It checks key components like brakes, tyres, suspension, lights, emissions and more.
What we check
- Lights, indicators and electrical safety items
- Tyres, wheels and steering
- Brakes and brake balance
- Suspension and chassis condition
- Seatbelts, airbags warning lights and interior checks
- Emissions and exhaust system
Pass, fail and advisories
If your vehicle meets the required standard it passes. Some items may be listed as advisories — not failures today, but worth planning for soon. We’ll explain advisories clearly so you can decide what to do next.
Before your MOT
- Check all lights work (including number plate lights)
- Tyres above the legal limit and correctly inflated
- Windscreen clear with working wipers/washer
- No warning lights showing for core safety systems
Need repairs? If something fails, we can talk you through options and costs before any work is done.
